New York – the start of a love affair (it’s a vegan haven!)

Vegan love affair with New York

I recently fell in love…with New York. It is truly an amazing city and I visited in July after an intensely busy period launching my book, From Unknown To Expert in the US and speaking at a DELL conference in Austin, Texas. Needless to say I did absolutely no planning for New York!

Luckily one of my closest friends came over to hang out with me and she did amazing research on places to eat.

We are both strict vegetarians, and I’m mostly vegan, so finding food I can eat while travelling is usually very difficult. I often travel with protein bars, as I don’t have egg or milk so even breakfast can be difficult while I’m travelling.

Then I visited New York. I’m very lucky to have done a bunch of travelling, but I have never ever been to a city where there are SO MANY vegetarian and vegan restaurants. I was blown away by the choice, and I can only dream of having that kind of choice in Sydney.

We went to a vegetarian or vegan restaurant for every lunch and dinner meal in the week we were there. Crazy-amazing!

I can’t describe to you the pleasure of looking at a menu and actually being able to choose something. Usually there is one vegetarian option – which is most often boring pasta!

So thanks to my incredibly planned friend, here is a list of the restaurants she found.

My favourites were:
NY Dosas
The Cinnamon Snail – Food Truck
HanGawi – Korean Vegan
Taim
Le Verdure – EATELY
